Statement hues, floral nuances & a textural interplay weave the narration of Tea Villa Café, Pune. The venue is a spatial matrix of an area of 1,200 sq. ft indoors & an expansive 6,000 sq. ft outdoors spread over a G+1 structure.

The cafe is strategically located on a corner plot & enjoys the advantage of a great frontage & visual presence in its neighboring context. The structure channels a Neo-Brutalist essence in its construct & is an amalgamation of transfiguring facets, a layered façade & embodies the form of a modern-day ‘Monolith’, stoic in its presence & its aesthetic strain. At the façade level, the structure is a dialogue between voided and solid surfaces that give the built form a pervious character in relation to its milieu.

Designed & executed over a stringent timeline & completed on 4th January 2019, this project brings a myriad of design components to unite seamlessly whilst creating a homogeneous & effervescent ensemble of a space. A collage of a brilliant color scheme stitches together the visual story of the interior scheme. A deep sky blue, sunshine yellow & a hint of plum purple in the interiors make for an eclectic visual, dotted with the right accentuation of design elements. The intention behind the curation of the bold color palette in the venue was to reflect a unifying language of lively nooks governed by the play of statement hues & a plethora of pattern work. The café’s indoors have been ingeniously designed with the intention of bringing a contemporary & vibrant ambience to the entire space at an intrinsic level.

Geometric nuances breathe life through the entire structure’s framework at an interior & exterior level. The usage of geometric grammar across varied surface create a stimulating aura of design through the entire weave of the space. The versatile use of Hexagonal, Chevron, Voronoi, Triangular & Linear patterns in synchrony with bright hues, add to the avant-garde vibe of the space as a whole. Innovative typography & signages across solid hued walls make for a quirky addition to the space’s design. The utilization of floral elements in the form of wall-mounted planters, creepers & on the surface of the ceiling in the indoor dining section adds a sense of fresh vitality to the space.

The provision for a large capacity of outdoor seating was consciously envisioned to create an atmosphere that conjures the feeling of a tangible connection with the urban surroundings as one dines at the premises of the café. The outdoor dining section, much like the indoors has a strong geometric identity with the hexagonal flooring layout & minimalistic outdoor furniture in vivacious colors that complement the outdoors and its interiors palette.

Tea Villa Café, Pune truly entwines contemporary design sensibilities & a ‘feel good’ ambience effortlessly into one space.
